OUR VISION
We are Ghislain and Claudine, two Flemish Belgians realizing that humanity
urgently needs a drastic change. We are tired of capitalist society and choose
to live the Pura Vida lifestyle that is so cherished here in Costa Rica. Life at Puri Mas is a world away from corporate and money-driven culture. We aspire to find the balance between human presence and the pure beauty of nature.
Puri Mas operates as a zero-footprint settlement based on solar power, taking
part in the primary forests without causing harm to the environment. The experience of this unique environment, whilst being in the comfort of integrated luxury, creates precious moments of true relaxation.
The Rio Barrigones brings crystal clear waters from Corcovado National Park
towards the magical Gulfo Dulce and cuts through the Puri Mas gardens that are shaded by old fruit trees such as Citrus, Avocado, Cocoa, Passion fruit, Mango, Carambola, Mamon, Banana, Manzana de agua…
Together with on-site grown vegetables, they form the basis for a delicate type of European gastronomy. A wine accompanied candle-light dinner at the open area of the house, overlooking the river valley with a view on the Gulfo Dulce, will be an enchanted experience.
THE PLACE
Puri Mas is located in the Osa Peninsula, southwest Costa Rica where the rainforest meets the sea, one of the most remote, most spectacular and wildest regions of Costa Rica. It is still covered in pristine rainforest and one the last gems to explore.
The property is about 22 Ha and has several, well marked trails for you to explore. It is bordered by the Corcovado National Park, which is referred to, by National Geographic and many scientists, as the most biologically intense place on earth. It is the last patch of original tropical rainforest remaining in Pacific Central America. The wide diversity and presence of endangered species is due to its remoteness and little disturbance by humans in the past. The Corcovado National Park protection extends into Puri Mas, which is located on the valley slopes of the Rio Barrigones and boasts spectacular views of the forest canopy.
The scarlet macaws, toucans and many other bird species, accentuate the peaceful silence at Puri Mas. Howler monkeys, squirrel monkeys, white faced capuchin, spider monkeys, some being seriously endangered, are all home to the area. Pumas, jaguars, ocelots, tapirs, coatis and many more leave their footprints here…
Casa Anak and Casa Bejuco, the 2 rental houses, sit within the property of Puri Mas, which is located on the top of a hill that offers splendid views on the Gulfo Dulce. Puri Mas is 3km. away from the main road #245, between Rincon/La Palma and Puerto Jimenez.
The town of Puerto Jimenez is about 20km. away from Puri Mas. Although in the middle of the jungle, the Puri Mas property is easily accessible and close to all the main points of interest.
